C2PA overview
The coalition developing the open technical standard behind Content Credentials.
The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity develops an open technical standard for recording the origin and editing history of digital content. The coalition brings together organizations involved in capture devices, creative software, publishing, online platforms, security, and civil society so that provenance information can move between otherwise separate systems.
C2PA defines what participating tools can record and how signed claims can be validated. It does not determine whether the subject of a file is true, and the absence of a credential is not evidence that content is false or manipulated. We reference the coalition’s website for its current explanation of the project, its governance, and its work.
